Armenian airports see 20.6% growth in passenger traffic in 2017
Yerevan Zvartnots International Airport and Shirak Airport in Gyumri welcomed increased number of passengers in 2017 compared to the data of the previous year.
As Panorama.am learnt from the General Department of Civil Aviation, both airports served 2,553,914 passengers last year, showing a 20.6% rise against the 2016 data.
In December 2017, the passenger traffic through Zvartnots Airport accounted for 192,482 passengers – a 1.8 % increase over the figures of December 2016.
Overall, 2,448,250 people used the services of Zvartnots Aiport in 2017, up by 16.3% against the same period of 2016.
A total of 22,324 tons of cargo were transported through Zvartnots Airport last year, indicating a 22.1% rise over the volumes transported in 2016.
Passenger traffic through Shirak Airport comprised 105,664 people in 2017, while the airport served 12,421 passengers in 2016.
The airport welcomed a total of 14,167 passengers in December 2017, while the figure was 2,557 during the same month of 2016.
Meanwhile, the total number of flights and landings of the both airports in 2017 has also recorded an increase accounting for 18% compared to the numbers of the previous year.
