A 1.5% inflation was recorded in Armenia’s consumer market in December 2017 compared to the figures of the previous month, according to the data provided by the National Statistical Service (NSS).

The source informs that the registered inflation mainly stemmed from a 3.6% rise in prices of food products and non-alcoholic beverages. The prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages (including alcoholic beverages and tobacco) increased by 3.2% in the indicated period. Meantime, the prices of non-food products and services rose by 0.1% each in December 2017.

The NSS figures show the Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 102.6% in December 2017 from the same month a year before. The index for food products and non-alcoholic beverages (including alcoholic beverages and tobacco) was 105.3%, the index for non-food – 101.7% and that for service prices – 99.5%. In January-December 2017, the average monthly increase in consumer prices made up 0.2%.

The CPI stood at 101.0% in January-December 2017 against the same period of 2016, including the index for food and non-alcoholic beverages (including alcoholic beverages and tobacco) was 104.0%, non-food products – 98.2% and service prices – 98.7%.

262 out of 452 consumer goods (services) under study recorded inflation trends, 164 had deflation trends, while the prices of 26 goods remained unchanged.
