National Gallery extends Aivazovsky exhibition one month
Due to its popularity, the National Gallery of Armenia, announced a one-month extension of the exhibition “Hovhannes Aivazovsky. Creation” dedicated to the artist’s 200th birth anniversary, the Gallery reported in a Facebook post.
As Arman Tsaturyan, Director of the National Gallery of Armenia informed earlier, the exhibition opened in September last year to run until January 15 attracted some 44 thousand visitors. The exhibition features 52 paintings, 26 graphic works, 1 work of the decorative-applied art and 20 documentary materials,
To note, the National Gallery of Armenia has the second largest collection of Aivazovsky’s paintings after Museum of Theodosius in the Crimea. The exhibition for the first time will display the prominent painting “Chaos: Creation of the World” from the collection of the Mekhitarist Congregation in Venice.
