Armenia’s Artur Davtyan among top gymnasts of 2016-2017
Artur Davtyan, a member of the Armenian gymnastics team, has been included in the list of world-class gymnasts of 2016-2017 by the International Gymnastics Federation. The Armenian gymnast has been awarded with an order by the federation, the National Olympic Committee said.
In 2016, Davtyan claimed the vice-champion’s title of the European Championships (vaulting). The gymnast took part in the Rio Summer Olympic Games in the same year.
In 2017, he won international tournaments, grabbing various medals. He is the first Armenian gymnast, who has made it through to the finals of the men's all-around event at the World Gymnastics Championships (2017) during the independence years of Armenia.
The top gymnasts’ list feature those athletes who reached the finals of the World Championships.
Artur Davtyan is Armenia's fourth gymnast to win the order.
Armenian athletes Norik Sargsyan (1996), Harutyun Merdinyan (2010) and Vahagn Davtyan (in 2015) are also included in the list of top gymnasts.
