Armenia does its best to maintain military balance, deputy FM says
Armenia is doing everything possible to maintain military balance with Azerbaijan, Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan told reporters following today’s cabinet meeting.
“Azerbaijan makes so many statements. Armenia, in her turn, does its best also using the opportunities stemming from our alliance with Russia. Moreover, [Armenia] acquires the respective armaments at more affordable prices,” the official said, commenting on the Azerbaijani president’s statement claiming the country has no restrictions in purchasing weapons from Russia.
Mr Kocharyan stressed Armenia does not have to react to the Azerbaijani president’s every single statement. “What we need to do is to maintain the military balance, and steps are being taken to that end,” he added.
