Roadways mostly passable in Armenia, snow, fog reported
Roadways are mostly passable in the territory of Armenia as of 9 a.m. January 26, with some roads partly covered with black ice, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.
Scattered precipitations are predicted on 25-27 January in most regions, at night of January 28 in Lori, Tavush, Syunik regions and Artsakh, with wind intensification up to 15-20 m/s possible in separate places. In the daytime of January 28, on 29 no precipitation is predicted in the country.
Vardenyats Pass and Sotk-Karvachar highway are difficult to pass. Fog has descended over Goris town of Syunik region,
Snowfalls have reportedly hit Meghri Pass, Kajaran, Kapan, Goris (Syunik region), Spitak (Lori region) and Talin (Aragatsotn region) towns.
The ministry urges all drivers to use exclusively winter tires when driving in the regions.
The Department of Emergency Situations of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and the general department of the Republic of North Ossetia of Russia’s Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that Stepantsminda-Lars highway is open for all types of vehicle.
According to the information received from the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry's Crisis Management Center in North Ossetia on 25 January, at 9 a.m., a total of 111 trucks are stuck on the Russian side.
