Turkish airstrikes damage historical site in southern Afrin
The Turkish Air Force launched several airstrikes over the Afrin Canton, targeting a number of different sites under the control of the Kurdish-led People's Protection Units (YPG), according to the report by local sources.
The General Directorate for Antiquities and Museums at the Syrian Ministry of Culture said that the Turkish aggression on archaeological sites in Afrin area destroyed Ain Dara Temple, one of the most important archaeological buildings as it was built by the Arameans during the first millennium BC.
According to the report by state-run Sana agency, during the first week of the Turkish aggression, 86 civilians have been killed and 198 civilians have been injured including children, women and elderly, in addition to causing huge material damage to the infrastructure while the movement stopped in the area of Afrin and the surrounding villages due to the heavy shelling.
