Black ice observed on some roads in Armenia
Vardenyats Pass is difficult to pass due to snowstorm and low visibility as of 9:30 February 1, Armenia’s Ministry of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies reported.
Black ice has taken hold on some sections of the Maralik, Akhuryan, Ashotsk, Aparan, Spitak, Sevan, Gavar, Vayk, Goris-Sisian roadways, as well as Tigranashen and Meghri Passes.
Cleaning operations with chemical salt and sand are underway along the roads.
All interstate and republican roads in the territory of Armenia are passable.
Stepantsminda-Lars highway that crosses the Russian-Georgian border through the Lars checkpoint is open for all types of vehicles as of morning, February 1, the ministry reported referring to the information provided by the Roads Department of Georgia's Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure.
