GM Aronian slips to 5th spot in FIDE ratings
Armenian GM Levon Aronian (2797) fell one spot to the 5th place in the latest World Chess Federation (FIDE) ratings from the 4th position in the previous rankings.
Magnus Carlsen of Norway (2834) continues to lead the FIDE rating list of the best chess players in the world unveiled on 1 February, followed by Azerbaijani Shahriyar Mammadyarov (2814) and Russian Vladimir Kramnik (2800), the National Olympic Committee reported.
Standard Top 100 Men February 2018 features three other Armenian chess players. In particular, Gabriel Sargissian (2677) comes the 67th, Vladimir Hakobyan (2667) – the 76th and Hrant Melkumyan (2664) – the 82nd.
Armenian chess player Elina Danielian (2413) ranked the 52nd and Lilit Mkrtchian (2392) – the 70th in the Top 100 Women February 2018 list.
