Armenian parliament passes amendments to Law on Police
The Armenian National Assembly on Wednesday adopted in the second reading and in full a bill proposing amendments and supplements to the Law on Police.
The new legislation empowers police officers to use videos and photos made by video recorders and cameras while performing their duties to prevent and solve crimes in the country.
Yelk faction MP Artak Zeynalyan noted the bloc is against the draft law, voicing concerns it will interfere in people’s private life and violate their right to respect, adding such a measure is not prescribed by the Constitution.
The draft law passed the parliamentary reading with a vote of 67 for and 37 against.
The National Assembly also passed in the reading and in full the draft amendments to the “Law on the Safe Use of Nuclear Energy for Peaceful Purposes”, the draft law on making amendments and supplements to the law on energy and the attached bill package, as well as the bill on making amendments and supplements to the law on “Games of Chance, Online Games of Chance and Casinos” and the attached package.
The draft amendments to the law on combating terrorism also passed the parliament’s second reading.
The bill proposing amendments and supplements to the Tax Code received 72 votes for to pass the parliament’s first reading.
