Yerevan Zvartnots International Airport and Shirak Airport in Gyumri welcomed increased number of passengers in January 2018 compared to the data of the indicated period of the previous year.

As Panorama.am learnt from the General Department of Civil Aviation, the total number of passengers the two airports served in January 2018 was 189,177 which is 9.1 growth to compare with the data of the indicated month last year.

In January 2018, the passenger traffic through Zvartnots Airport accounted for 178,301 passengers - a 5.7% increase over the numbers of January 2016.

The released data also show that 892 tons of cargo was transported through Zvartnots Airport during the eleven months of 2017, while the volumes transported in January- 2017 were 965 tones. Passenger traffic through Shirak Airport comprised 10,876 during the period in question, serving 4,624 passengers in the indicated period of 2016.

Meanwhile, the total number of flights and landings of the both airports in January 2018 has also recorded an increase accounting for 11% to compare with the numbers of the previous year.
