Parliament passes bill on Public Council
The Armenian National Assembly adopted in the first reading on Friday the draft law on the Public Council proposed by the Government of Armenia.
The bill received 61 votes in favour and 34 against with no abstentions.
In his speech at the parliamentary debates on the bill, Vahe Enfiajyan of the opposition Tsarukyan alliance voiced the faction’s intention to vote against the measure, claiming there is no urgent need to fix the Council through legislation.
“That body has conducted activities for a long time, but has not given any positive impulses to our society,” he argued.
Yelk opposition faction also voted against the bill.
