Armenia's Mikayel Mikayelyan comes 74th at the Olympic Men's sprint classic
Armenian skier Mikayel Mikayelyan came the 74th in the men's sprint classic at Pyeongchang 2018 on Tuesday, falling behind the winner by over 28 seconds. Mikayelyan was the first representative of Armenia who started at the Olympics.
"I am not happy with the position, yet the result is satisfactory. The weather conditions brough additional difficulties on the line, however I did my best. I am set to improve my performances step by step and this result encourages me to look at the future with optimism," Mikayelyan has told the Armenia' Olympic Committee press service after the race.
The Head of Skiing Federation Gagik Sargsyan has noted that claiming a higher position in a race with the world's strongest athletes was not feasible.
To note, Mikayelyan will compete in the Men's 15km free sprint on February 16.
