Turkish citizen detained for illegal crossing of the Armenian border
Russian border guards detained a Turkish citizen near Akhuryan river in Armenia's Armavir province for illegal crossing of the state border. As the Russian Border Department of the Federal Security Service reported, the citizen of Turkey illegally crossed the Armenian border for fishing on the Armenian side of the border.
The detainee was identified as a 23-year-old resident of a village in Turkey's Digor province.
Armenia's police and National Security Service were notified about the incident, the Border Department said in a release.
To note, Russian troops protect Armenia's borders with Turkey and Iran, in compliance with the agreement concluded between Moscow and Yerevan in 1992.
