Book Giving Day to be celebrated in Artsakh
Hovhannes Tumanyan Museum plans number of programmes and events on February 19 on the birth anniversary of the Armenian poet and public activist. February 19 also marks the Book Giving Day celebrated in Armenia since 2008.
Vice President of the Museum Ani Yeghiazaryan told a press conference today, telling about the upcoming events at the Museum. In Yeghazaryan's words, on the occasions of the anniversary of the most loved poet of Armenians and the day of presenting books, the Museum had prepared many surprises, to interactive games for children to mention one.
Yeghiazaryan said that the Museum is actively involved in the preparation works of the writer's 150th anniversary which is why this year no massive celebration are planned outside of the Museum.
"Tumanyan through the eyes of the 20th century photographers" exhibition is another big event that will gather art-lovers to see original portraits of the Armenian writer, soe of them brought from Tbilisi.
The Head of Armenia's Cultural Foundation Manuk Nigoyan, present at the event, noted that the Tumanyan's anniversary coincides with the tradition book giving day. In his words, this year the event of promoting and popularizing reading has expanded its geography with scheduled events in Artsakh as well.
"On February 19, a Book bank will be launched in Stepanakert with the support of the Artsakh ministry of culture. The goal s to spread the love of reading to kids in Artsakh" Nigoyan said.
