It is impossible to imagine the contemporary classical music without the art of the Polish composer, conductor and violinist Krzysztof Penderecki. Courageous innovations, interesting perception, creativity and fundamentalism: Penderecki's art can be described by these epithets.

The Armenian audience has a chance to enjoy the diverse music by one of the greatest composers of our times from February 13 to 17, the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia said, highlighting Penderecki is a composer with interesting and unique perception.

The four concerts are held within the framework of the festival dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Penderecki and the 4th festival “Penderecki days in Armenia”. The concerts provide the Armenian audience with high-quality music.

On February 15, Hover State Chamber Choir headed by choirmaster Sona Hovhannisyan presented choral compositions by Penderecki at Komitas Chamber Music House.

Hover performed De profundis, Veni Creator from “Stabat Mater”, Prosimy Cie from “Kadish”, Song of Cherubim, Agnus Dei from "A Polish Requiem" and other compositions.

The sound of "Hover" and the depth of the choral compositions by Penderecki touched the audience, including Krzysztof Penderecki, his wife Elzbieta Penderecka, as well as the representatives of the diplomatic corps.

President of the Armenian Music Society Davit Ghazaryan noted that world-class artist has Armenian blood flowing through his veins.

“Penderecki's choral compositions are unique. Human voice is a totally different world for Penderecki, especially when he writes a capella composition. Penderecki’s perception is quite different. I had the opportunity to see him as a conductor and I can say that Penderecki lives in a completely different world. We congratulate him on his 85th anniversary and we will be delighted to be present at other concerts, representing his compositions,” Davit Ghazaryan noted.

Penderecki’s festival will present two more concerts to the connoisseurs of the music. On February 16, Komitas Museum-Institute Concert Hall will host a concert of chamber music. The Symphony No.7 “Seven Gates of Jerusalem” will be presented at Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall on February 17.

The festival is held under the patronage of the First Lady of Armenia Rita Sargsyan. The musical feast is organized by the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra and Yerevan Perspectives International Music Festival, with the support of the Armenian Ministry of Culture.
