2.6 million viewers watched the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has revealed that 2.6 million viewers watched the final of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Tbilisi, Georgia. According to the newly-release report featuring the viewing figures for last years, while Armenia saw more viewers tune in than on average in past five years.
Eurovoix.com reported that an average of 2.6 million viewers across 15 countries represents a fall of 1.3 million viewers compared to 2016.
For the second year running Poland was the country with the highest viewing figures, with 866,000 viewers watching the competition, this however was down from 2.8 million viewers the year before.
According to the source, the Junior Eurovision Song Contest remains far away from the viewing figures it achieved during its first three years. In 2005 the contest was watched by over 30 million viewers, with Belgium, Greece, Netherlands, Romania, Russia, Spain and Sweden all reporting audiences above 1 million viewers. These figures are unlikely to be replicated in the near future due to the contest being moved in many of the competing countries to secondary channels.
