Armenia to launch electronic prescribing within the e-Health system
Armenia continues implementing the e-Health system which is a single information platform with stakeholders of the country's medical institutions, citizens, and the state healthcare providers. The goal of the system is the usage of modern information and communication technologies, providing high-quality, safe, accessible and cost-effective medical services to the public. The system implies digitization of the medical records of all citizens with the follow-up operation of electronic prescribing (e-prescribing), providing time and cost savings to the patients.
"The system serves a common platform where electronic medical records of the citizens will be available to doctors," Head of the Committee of introducing an electronic health system Vardan Gevorgyan told reporters on Monday.
The project implementation started in 2017 with the first stage of digitization of the patients treated under the state-ordered quota already completed.
In the scope of the introduction Armed website has been launched that contains information on all 480 medical institutions providing medical care in the frame of the state order and the registered doctor. The users will require an ID and a password to register in the system for the first time.
The system will cover all medical institutions of the republic in 2018 with a relevant license.
"The new system will allow physicians and other medical practitioners to write and send prescriptions to a participating pharmacy of a patient's choice electronically instead of using handwritten," Gevorgyan added.
In is words, upon full operation of the system, all pharmacies operating in Armenia will be involved in the system.
