Speaker Babloyan stresses need to strengthen Armenian-Lebanese inter-parliamentary ties
President of Lebanon Michel Aoun, who is in Armenia on an official visit, on Thursday paid a visit to the Armenian National Assembly to meet with Speaker Ara Babloyan.
Mr Babloyan expressed hope that this visit would promote the strengthening and deepening of bilateral relations, the parliament’s press office said.
The Armenian official appreciated the political relations between Armenia and Lebanon, conditioning them with centuries-old friendship, historical ties and the great role of the Armenian community.
Ara Babloyan highly appreciated Michel Aoun’s contribution to the stability, security and development of Lebanon.
Talking about the Lebanese Armenian community, the parliament speaker documented that, first of all, they are devoted citizens of Lebanon and play a significant role in the political, economic, social, cultural and educational life of the country.
Ara Babloyan stressed the need to strengthen the Armenian-Lebanese inter-parliamentary ties and cooperation of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups.
The president of Lebanon thanked the Armenian parliament speaker for the warm welcome, noting that he was glad to visit Armenia.
In Michel Aoun’s words, Lebanon is a country of cultural diversity, where people of different nationalities and faiths live side by side in harmony, respecting each other. Touching upon the regional issues, President Aoun highlighted the provision of security and stability.
At the end of the meeting, the president of Lebanon left a note in the Book of Honourable Guests of the Armenian National Assembly.
