Presidential candidate Armen Sarkissian visits Armenian Catholic Patriarchate of Cilicia in Beirut
Presidential candidate Armen Sarkissian on Saturday visited the Armenian Catholic Patriarchate of Cilicia in Beirut, Lebanon to meet with Catholic Patriarch Krikor Bedros XX Gabroyan and the religious, political, educational and national figures of the Armenian Catholic community, Sarkissian’s Office told Panorama.am.
They discussed a range of issues over spiritual, educational and charity activities of the Armenian Catholic Church in Armenia. Catholic Patriarch Gabroyan wished Sarkissian success in his important and responsible mission, stressing the Armenian Catholic Church is always ready to have its input in the development and strengthening of Armenia.
On the same day, Mr Sarkissian met also with Rev. Megerdich Karageozian, President of the Union of the Armenian Evangelical Churches in the Near East, as well as Dr. Paul Haidostian, President of Haigazian University in Beirut, and other religious, educational and national figures of the Armenian Evangelical community.
According to the source, Megerdich Karageozian introduced Mr Sarkissian on the activities of the Armenian Evangelical Church centres. Mr Haidostian, in his turn, presented the activities of the only Armenian university in the Diaspora, as well as the spheres of its close cooperation with Armenia.
At the end of the meeting, the leadership of the Armenian Evangelical community expressed their full support for presidential candidate Armen Sarkissian.
