Gevorg Kostanyan elected chair of the parliament committee on state and legal affairs
Armenian lawmaker Gevorg Kostanyan from the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) faction was elected the Chair of Armenia's National Assembly Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs and Protection of Human Rights. Kostanyan's candidacy was approved on Wednesday during the extraordinary sitting of the parliament with 63 votes in favor and 30 against.
Kostanyan, 41, throughout his professional career held some key public posts, serving as assistant to the President (2008-2011), Military prosecutor of Armenia (2011-2013), Prosecutor General (2013-2016).
Since 2004 until now Kostanyan is Armenia's Representative European Court of Human Rights.
