Prominent cellist Suren Bagratuni appointed as the jury chairman of the 14th Khachaturian International Competition
One of the greatest cellists of our times Suren Bagratuni (USA/Armenia) is appointed as the jury chairman of the 14th Khachaturian International Competition to be held from June 6 to 14, the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra reported in a press statement.
Laureate of many competitions Suren Bagratuni is one of the most famous and demanded cellist of our times. He performs as a soloist with the best orchestras, under the leadership of renowned conductors. Suren Bagratuni is linked to the most serious achievements in the field of cello performance, according to the source.
It is noted that Bagratuni is Professor of Cello at Michigan State University where he maintains a very busy teaching schedule and serves as Chair of String area. The prestigious musician and experienced pedagogue has agreed to be the chairman of the competition jury.
It is reminded that the 14th Khachaturian International Competition, which will be held in 2018, is open for cellists. The Competition usually launches on June 6, on the birthday of the great Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian and finishes on June 14 with a gala concert.
The international competition will be held within the framework of events dedicated to the 115th anniversary of the great Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian.
Khachaturian International Competition is the member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions and it is the only Armenian competition ever honored with such a privilege. The competition is held by the standards of this global organization. The age limit of participants must be not younger than 16 and not older than 32 years inclusive. The Competition consists of Preliminary selection and 3 rounds. Applications for participation are accepted until April 25, 2018.
