Armenian chess player earns FIDE Grand Master title
Armenian chess player Aram Hakobyan, 17, completed the final requirement to earn the title of Grandmaster - the highest title a chess player can attain.
As the National Olympic Committee reported, the FIDE title came following his superior performances in the high-level Aeroflot tournament in Moscow, Russia. The Armenian, initially ranked the 71st, took the 21st spot, improving his individual ranking by 19 spots that allowed him to achieve the rank of Grand Master.
It is noted that the title will be awarded at the FIDE Presidential Board session in April.
