Possible risks seen in Armenian-Turkish protocols eliminated, Kiro Manoyan says
ARF-Dashnaksutyun hails President Sargsyan's decision to officially annul the 2009 Armenia-Turkey protocols, the Head of the ARF-Dashnaktsutyun Armenian Cause and Political Affairs Office Kiro Manoyan told in an interview to Panorama.am. Manoyan said ARF-Dashnaktsutyun has issued the respective statement.
"From the beginning, we opposed to those protocols, as we saw provisions that could potentially interpreted as meeting the two out of three preconditions set forth by Turkey. The third precondition concerning Artsakh was voiced by Turkey ahead of the ratification procedure," Manoyan said, adding, it has been long overdue to terminate the documents.
"In any case we consider Thursday decision declaring the 2009 Armenia-Turkey Protocols "null and void" once and for all and eliminates the potential risks to Armenia's interests," Manoyan said.
In the speaker's words, the normalization of the relations between Armenia and Turkey may happen once Turkey shows necessary will to move forward without any preconditions.
"We should make no more efforts in that direction, unless Turkey changes its posture and approaches on normalizing the relations," Manoyan said, adding the decision not to establish diplomatic relations with Armenia and lift the imposed blockade was made by Ankara itself and not because of Azerbaijan.
