Armenian Security Service uncovers counterfeit scheme
Armenia's National Security Service (NSS) has revealed a criminal group comprising Armenian and foreign nationals, who allegedly manufactured and sold false official documents, including military records, driver's licenses, birth and marriage certificates, residence and vehicle registration forms as well as university and college degrees.
As the press service of the government-affiliated agency reports, during 2016-2017 through the use of color print technology the members of the group have issued fake documents for 40 foreign nationals proving their military service, enable them to register in Armenia's military commissariats, obtain Armenian passports and be exempt from military service in Armenia.
Through using the mentioned scheme, the fraudsters have produced fake documents on behalf to RA and foreign state and self-government bodies, separate organizations involving 140 Armenian and foreign individuals. NSS has confiscated the devices, seals and stamps used in the forgery of the documents.
Charges are pressed against 11, including 1 foreign national, according to Article 325, Part 1 and 2 of the RA Criminal Code, which is forgery, sale or use of forged documents, stamps, seals, letter-heads, vehicle license plates.
According to the source, four members of the group are arrested, while 7 have been released with signed undertaking not to leave place of residence.
