Women comprise majority of jobless in Armenia
An estimated number of 46,700 women are jobless in Armenia, making up some 66.7% of the unemployed, according to the latest statistics.
The number of job seekers in Armenia was reportedly 86,000 as of January 1, 2018, the number being 10.2% lower compared to the same period of 2017. The villagers make up some 35.5% of the job seekers, down by 10.9% from the previous year.
Of them, 70,200 people (81,7%) are known to be unemployed, with the number reduced by 12,7% since January 2017, the State Employment Agency of Armenia informed Panorama.am.
The number of the unemployed in quest for jobs for the first time is estimated at 35,600, with 41,2% of them being young men aged 16-29.
In 2017, some 9300 people in quest for jobs, including 5800 women, found a job in Armenia.
