Armenian airports see 9.3% growth in passenger traffic in Jan-Feb 2018
Armenia’s two airports saw an increase in passenger numbers in the first two months of 2018 compared to the data of 2017.
As Panorama.am learnt from the General Department of Civil Aviation (GDCA), Yerevan Zvartnots International Airport and Shirak Airport in Gyumri served 338,336 passengers in January-February 2018, showing a 9.3% rise from the same period last year.
The figures show that a total of 149,159 people used the services of the two airports in February 2018, 9.5% higher than a year ago.
In February 2018, the passenger traffic through Zvartnots Airport accounted for 139,218 passengers – an 5.4% increase over the figures of the same month in 2017.
Zvartnots Aiport recorded an increase of 5.6% in January-February 2018 against the same period of 2017.
A total of 2007 tons of cargo were transported through Zvartnots Airport within the first two months of this year, whereas the cargo transportation numbered 2576 tons in January-February 2017.
Passenger traffic through Shirak Airport comprised 9941 people in February 2018, while the airport served 4224 passengers in the same period of 2017.
The airport welcomed a total of 20,817 passengers in January-February 2018, with 8848 people using the airport’s services in the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the total number of flights and landings of the both airports in January-February 2018 also recorded an increase accounting for 13.7% compared to the numbers of 2017.
