FIDE Candidates Tournament R3: Aronian loses to Kramnik
Armenian GM Levon Aronian lost his game against Vladimir Kramnik of Russia at Round 3 of FIDE Candidates Tournament 2018 played on Monday.
Aronian did not start with a good performance to resign after 27 moves, the National Olympic Committee told Panorama.am.
The other three games of the round – Fabiano Caruana-Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Sergey Karjakin-Alexander Grischuk and Wesley So- Ding Liren – ended in a draw.
After three rounds, Kramnik is the sole leader of the tournament with 2.5 points. Having collected one point, Aronian shares the 6-7 spots with Karjakin.
The Armenian chess star will face Karjakin at Round 4 scheduled for March 14.
