FIDE Candidates Tournament R5: Armenia's Aronian draws with Grischuk
Armenian GM Levon Aronian drew his game against Alexander Grischuk of Russia at Round 5 of FIDE Candidates Tournament 2018 underway in Berlin, Germany.
Playing with white pieces, Aronian had an advantage over his opponent throughout the game, but he made a mistake at a critical moment, and the game ended in a draw, the National Olympic Committee told Panorama.am.
The other three games of the round were also drawn.
After five rounds, Fabiano Caruana is leading the table with 3.5 points. GM Aronian is sharing the 4-6 spots with Alexander Grischuk and Ding Liren with 2.5 points.
Round 6 pairings are: Caruana-Grischuk, Wesley So-Aronian, Ding Liren-Karjakin and Mamedyarov-Kramnik.
