Armenia represented at Leipzig Book Fair for the first time
With the support of the ministry of culture and the Embassy to Germany, Armenia was represented at the Leipzig Book Fair this year for the first time this year, held in Germany from March 15-18.
As the foreign ministry press service reported, the Armenian national stand featured works by Armenian classic and modern writers, art work, publications on Armenia history by local and foreign authors available both in Armenia and in translations.
To note, some 300,000 people visited the Leipzig Book Fair which is the second largest book fair in Germany after the Frankfurt Book Fair. The event that run until Sunday, featured 2,600 exhibitors from 48 countries. Parallel to the fair, visitors took part in the "Leipzig liest" (Leipzig reads) festival and a graphic novel fair.
In the scope of the fair Armenian Ambassador to Germany Ashot Smbatyan held meetings with the Director of Leipzig Book Fair Oliver Zille and heads of number of publishing houses.
The discussions highlighted the importance of opening of Goethe-center in Yerevan and the steps aimed at promoting the study of the German language in our country to encourage cultural exchange and relations.
