Armenia hosts Iranian wrestler Hamid Sourian
Armenia’s Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Hrachya Rostomyan on Monday hosted Iranian wrestler Hamid Sourian, an Olympic gold medalist and a six-time world champion.
Welcoming the guest, the minister said it is a great honor to host such a renowned athlete in Armenia, the ministry’s press service informed Panorama.am.
“The cooperation between our two countries in sports and especially in wrestling promotes the development of these sports types both in Armenia and Iran,” the minister said, expressing confidence Armenian and Iranian athletes are good friends out of competition.
Minister Rostomyan awarded the Iranian wrester a commemorative medal issued on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Olympic Committee of Armenia. Hamid Sourian thanked the Armenian official for the prize and the warm welcome and attention he enjoyed during his Armenia visit.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Wrestling Federation of Armenia.
