Armenia’s economic activity up 8.6% in Jan-Feb
The economic activity index (EAI) of Armenia grew by 8.6% in January-February 2018 from the same period last year, according to the figures released by Armenia’s National Statistical Service (NSS).
As the NSS statistics show, the index at the same time stood at 7.2% in February from January of the ongoing year, Panorama.am reports.
The construction sector secured the utmost growth in the reporting period. Namely, in January-February of this year, the construction volumes increased by 29.9% from the same period last year and by 25.1% compared to the figures of February 2017.
The industry sphere recorded an increase of 8.3% within the first two months of 2018. The electricity production sphere also saw a 3.5% rise. Compared to January-February 2017, this year the service volumes (excluding the trade) grew by 15.1%.
The trade turnover increased by 17.4% within two months of 2018 compared to the same period of 2017. The consumer prices, according to the NSS statistics, also rose by 3.1% from January-February 2017.
The gross agricultural output saw a slight decline of 0.1% in January-February 2018 against the same period of 2017.
As for the external trade turnover, it grew by 43.2% in the indicated period, with the exports increasing by 41% and imports – by 44.4%.
According to the statistics, the average monthly salary in Armenia rose by 8.9% in January-February 2018.
