Installment of Gregory of Narek statue completed at Vatican Gardens - Ambassador Minasyan
The installment of the statue of prominent Armenian poet, philosopher and theologian Gregory of Narek completed, Ambassador of Armenia to the Holly See Mikayel Minasyan wrote on his Facebook page.
The Ambassador recalls the 2016 visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to Armenia when President Sargsyan presented to the Pope a bronze statuette of the Saint Gregory of Narek as a symbolic meaning for the visit of Pope Francis to the first Christian Nation. While presenting the souvenir, President Sargsyan wished to see the original statue in Vatican in the future that was approved by the Pope.
"Shortly afterwards, the creative team headed by the author of Narek statue, People's Artist of Armenia Davit Yerevantsi got down to work. Architect Mikayel Hasratyan and project manager Vartan Karapetyan were actively involved in the works of statue creation, while my friend Artur Janibekyan, who is perhaps the most faithful enthusiast of expanding Narek art throughout the world, joint me as the second benefactor of the statue," Minasyan wrote.
The Ambassador added due to the hard work of the creative group the 2-meter bronze statue was coated in Czech Republic and the instalment was finished today at Vatican Gardens.
