Armenia’s chief meteorologist issues strong wind warning on 24-25 March
Very strong winds are expected to hit Armenia starting from midday on March 24 through midday on March 25, Armenia’s chief meteorologist warns.
Gagik Surenyan, Director of the Meteorological Center of the Hydromet Service, explains that the strong winds are caused due the collision of warm air masses penetrating into Armenia with the cold air masses over the Black Sea, which will form a powerful front in Armenia.
The wind speed may exceed up to 30-35 m/s in Shirak, Lori, Tavush, Gegharkunik, Syunik and Artsakh, reaching up to 20-25 m/s in Kotayk, Armavir, Aragatsotn, Ararat, Vayots Dzor and capital city Yerevan.
Surenyan says the strong winds may topple trees and power lines, rip off roofs of apartment buildings, etc.
He urges people to take care and be vigilant.
