Almost 3,100 militants and their families leave Eastern Ghouta in one day
Almost 3,100 militants and their family members left the settlement of Harasta in Syria’s Eastern Ghouta over the past one day, TASS reports, citing Russia’s Defense Ministry.
"A total of 3,084 militants and their family members have been evacuated in a convoy of 59 buses through the organized humanitarian corridor to the Idlib province in one day. All in all a total of 4,979 militants and their family members have been evacuated from the settlement of Harasta to the Idlib province," the ministry said in a statement.
Agreements reached between the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the opposing sides in Syria and leaders of the Ahrar al-Sham group have enabled militants to leave Eastern Ghouta.
"On March 24, one more checkpoint for evacuation of militants and their family members from the settlement of Arbil (Eastern Ghouta) was opened as a result of agreements reached between the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the opposing sides and leaders of illegal military groups," Russia’s Defense Ministry said.
