Roof damage in several towns as high winds arrive in Armenia
High winds have dislodged several roof panels on top of buildings in Armenia's Gyumri, Dilijan, and Gavar towns. As the ministry of emergency situations (MES) reports, among the damaged buildings are the Dilijan Art school located at Kalini 62. One firefighting brigade has left for the scene.
According to the source, the strong wind has caused some structural damage to the roofs of a residential building in Gavar town of Gegharkunik province and Gyumri town of Shirak province
As the ministry earlier reported, air currents penetrating to Armenia will interfere with cold air currents available on the Black Sea. As a result, dangerous wind was predicted after the daytime of March 24 and on 25 in the territory of Republic. In provinces Shirak, Lori, Tavush, Gegharkunik, Syunik and in Artsakh wind speed may exceed up by 30-35 m/s, in Kotayk, Aragatsotn, Ararat, Vayots dzor provinces and in Yerevan wind speed may exceed up by 20-25 m/s, as a result of strong wind trees and branches may break down, tear off the roofs and separate parts of the roofs, advertising boards, power transmission lines and other things may fell down.
Due to such dangerous meteorological situation, exhorting population and economic entities to demonstrate alertness as much as possible.
