There is no doubt incumbent Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will win Egypt's election – Armenian expert
A total of 57,788,138 eligible voters out of some 95 million people in Egypt are registered to vote on 26, 27, and 28 March at 13,706 polling stations in a presidential election, with the county’s incumbent Abdel Fattah al-Sisi all but guaranteed to a second term, an Armenian expert on Arabic studies said in a Facebook post.
“There is no doubt that the incumbent president of the most populated Arab country, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will continue to lead the country for the coming four years, in case, of course, the country does not see a force-majeure situation, which, by the way, has already been predicted due to the possibility of a social upheaval,” Armen Petrosyan wrote.
The analyst reminds that Sisi’s only opponent is Moussa Mostafa Moussa, who registered right 15 minutes before the deadline for applications.
Egypt’s opposition names Moussa as a ‘puppet’ of the current president, while other serious opponents, including former military chief of staff Sami Anan was detained still on 23 January, shortly after announcing plans to challenge the current leader.
The official election results are expected on 2 April.
