Armenian Church observes Good Friday today
The Armenian Apostolic Church observes Good Friday today. The feast is observed during the Holy Week as part of the Paschal Triduum on the Friday preceding Easter Sunday.
Good Friday is the day of commemoration of Jesus Christ’s tortures, crucifixion, death and burial. The Christian churches across the country traditionally offer a holy liturgy on this day to mark the final hours of the Great Savior’s earthly life, reports the Ararat Patriarchal Diocese.
The Service of the Crucifixion is conducted, following which the Service of His Burial is held. It is during the Burial service that the symbolic Tomb of Christ, decorated with flowers and candles, is processed around the Church for the faithful to witness and participate.
