Levon Aronian to feature at GRENKE Chess Classic 2018
Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian will participate in GRENKE Chess Classic 2018 set to kick off tomorrow in Karlsruhe. As the Chess Federation of Armenia reports, the Armenian will try to defend his GRENKE title and bounce back after his disappointing result in Berlin at the Candidates.
Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (France) and former world champion Viswanathan Anand (Indian) will start the tournament well rested.
Meanwhile, the tournament features the reigning World Champion Magnus Carlsen and 25-year-old Fabiano Caruana, who won the Candidates Tournament in Berlin earlier this week. To note, the next Chess World Championship between the two will be played on around 09 and 28 of November 2018 in London.
The first three rounds of the GRENKE Chess Classic will be played in the same venue as the GRENKE Chess Open in the Schwarzwaldhalle Karlsruhe. In round 1 Aronian will face Georg Meier of Germany.
