U.S. Embassy brings leadership and fundraising expert to Armenia for public seminar
At the invitation of U.S. Embassy in Yerevan, Nancy Bocskor, an internationally-known expert in applied democracy, is visiting Armenia to lead two all-day public lectures. The first on April 7 focuses on fundraising and is designed for professionals from civic, educational, and cultural organizations. The second, on April 8, will explore leadership with young civil society professionals, the embassy said in a statement.
The fundraising workshop, titled “Go Fish: How to Catch (and Keep) Contributors,” will teach participants how to use storytelling in their fundraising efforts. It is designed for professionals from civic, educational, and cultural organizations. It will run from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 7. During the interactive workshop, participants will use role-playing to practice using their new tools and knowledge in how to plan effective fundraising strategies.
The workshop on leadership, which runs from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., will focus on branding and “The Power to Lead (and Succeed).” It is designed to give young professionals in civil society tools to develop their leadership skills and their personal brand so they can take the lead in efforts to improve their communities.
Both seminars are free, but participation is limited and by on-line application only.
“One of my goals as Ambassador is to support and strengthen Armenian civil society,” U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills, Jr., said. “And through efforts such as these seminars, we hope to provide civil society members and the next generation of leaders with a better understanding of how to lead and be effective advocates for their ideas and positions.”
