Grenke Chess Classic: Aronian draws with Anand
Armenian chess grandmaster Levon Aronian played a draw against Viswanathan Anand at Round 3 of the Grenke Chess Classic 2018 underway in Germany.
The players agreed to a draw at move 31, the Chess Federation of Armenia told Panorama.am.
Maxime Vachier-Lagrave scored his second victory in a row, outplaying Hou Yifan. Fabiano Caruana celebrated his first victory in the tournament. World champion Magnus Carlsen drew with Matthias Bluebaum at move 60, with the Nikita Vitiugov-Arkadij Naiditsch game also ending in a draw.
After three rounds, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave and Nikita Vitiugov are leading the table with 2,5 points. Aronian shares the 3-5 spots with 2 points.
GM Aronian will face Hou Yifan at Round 4 scheduled for tomorrow.
