Baku continues to reject the proposals of the Minsk Group Co-Chairs - Tigran Balayan
The current situation in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict zone is a result of the aggression and the policy of ethnic cleansing that Azerbaijan has been carrying out for 30 years against the people of Artsakh, aiming at suppressing their unalienable right to self-determination, as well as living and creating in freedom, Armenian foreign ministry spokesperson Tigran Balayan said to "Armenpress" news agency.
Asked to comment on the statement by the foreign ministry of Azerbaijan on Monday about the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, Balayan noted: "The statement you refer to apparently aims to distract the attention from the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against Nagorno-Karabakh two years ago, which was accompanied by gross violations of international humanitarian law, namely a murder of a child in a school yard, DAESH style beheadings, mutilation of corpses, torture and murder of elderly in their own home. Azerbaijan bears responsibility not only for committing these terrible crimes, but also for the massacres against Armenians in Sumgait, Baku, Kirovabad, Maragha and elsewhere. Baku tries to avoid them through lies and falsifications, which became a common practice."
In Balayan's words, Baku continues to reject the proposals of Minsk Group Co-Chairs aimed at the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and refrains from implementing the confidence-building measures, namely the agreements reached at the Vienna, St. Petersburg and Geneva Summits, continuously violating its commitments undertaken by the trilateral ceasefire agreements with no time limitations on ceasing the military actions and fire signed by Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan and Armenia in 1994-1995.
"A striking example of this was the new aggression of Azerbaijan unleashed against Artsakh on this very day two years ago," Balayan added.
