Armenian cabinet to resign on April 9 as the country shifts to parliamentary system of government
The Armenian cabinet of ministers led by PM Karen Karapetyan will resign on April 9 and the members of the government will continue fulfilling their duties until the formation of the new government, Justice Minister Davit Harutyunyan told a briefing on Thursday.
According to the official, the elections of the new Prime Minister will be held on April 17, followed by the formation of the 2/3 of the cabinet members within fifteen days after election of the new Prime Minister by the Parliament.
To note, Armenia will transfer to the parliamentary system of government, according to the new constitution adopted in referendum held in 2015. According to the new Constitution, the Prime Minister and the President are elected by the parliament.
