Armenia hopes to receive visa-liberalization action plan from EU soon – official
Armenia hopes the European Union will soon provide the country with the action plan for launching the visa-liberalization dialogue, acting Deputy Foreign Minister Garen Nazarian said during today’s parliamentary debates on the ratification of the new Armenia-EU agreement in response to a question addressed by Yelk opposition faction MP Mane Tandilyan.
The official noted that the visa-liberalization talks agreed by both sides will kick off upon the ratification of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) signed in Brussels in November last year.
“We hope the EU will provide an action plan. It represents a process of reforms,” he said. “The Armenian side did not wait for the provision of that action plan, and the Armenian government has already initiated several legislative amendments that will make part of the liberalization process.”
“We hope that our initiated steps will be appropriately assessed by the EU,” he added.
