Intensive road construction works underway in Artsakh – deputy minister
Intensive road improvement and asphalting works are underway in the Artsakh towns of Stepanakert and Martuni, with the construction carried out by three major companies, Deputy Minister of Urban Development of Artsakh, Pavel Najaryan said in an interview with Panorama.am.
“Currently renovation works are underway on Garegin Nzhdeh Street in Stepanakert. [The street] was in poor condition. The roads close to School No. 10 in the capital’s Vagharshyan neighbourhood are also being renovated,” the Artsakh official said, adding 7-8 streets in the town of Martuni are under renovation as well.
The asphalting works along the highway linking Stepanakert and Martakert will launch in the near future and are scheduled to be completed this year, Mr Najaryan said, adding the construction of the highway running from Vardenis to Karvachar will kick off afterwards.
The deputy minister added this year as well the road renovation and asphalting works are carried out though off-budget funds, with the government planning to make budgetary allocations in the road construction sector next year.
“More works are carried out in this field year by year; a progress is recorded which should be maintained. Apart from streets, interstate and republican roads are also being renovated,” he added.
