Pashinyan-led protesters break into the building of Public Radio in Yerevan
The march participants led by opposition MP Nikol Pashinyan have taken over the building of Public Radio of Armenia. As Panorama.am reporter informs, the protesters stormed the building, went to the third floor, broke the door leading to one of the recording studios and demanded a live broadcast.
In an interview with reporters, Pashinyan expressed apologies to all citizens, police officers and radio employees for the caused inconvenience, while justifying the decision with an urgent need to issue a statement-call to all citizens.
Later the opposition MP held public talks with Vice Director of the Radio Lika Tumanyan over the live broadcast. As of 16:20 Yerevan time, the protesters are still in the radio building.
To note, several opposition groups, including Civil Contract party member Nikol Pashinyan are staging a sit-in in downtown Yerevan, blocking number of central street in the capital. The actions come in protest of the decision of the ruling RPA to nominate Serzh Sargsyan as the next prime minister of Armenia.
