Artsakh soldier honored with posthumous award
Artsakh Republic President Bako Sahakyan on Monday signed a decree on posthumously awarding Defense Army serviceman Alek Karapetyan with the "For Service in Battle" medal for bravery shown during the defense of the Artsakh state border, the presidential press service said.
A private of the Artsakh Defense Army, Alek Karapetyan, 20, sustained a fatal gunshot wound in a tragic accident at a military unit at 7:15 p.m. on Sunday.
A probe is underway to uncover the circumstances of the incident.
It a statement, the Defense Ministry shared the heavy grief of the loss, extending its condolences to the family members, relatives and fellow servicemen of the deceased soldier.
