Armenian parliament kicks off special sitting to elect new prime minister
The special sitting of the Armenian National Assembly kicked off on Tuesday amid the ongoing protests in downtown Yerevan boycotting ex-president Serzh Sargsyan’s nomination for prime minister.
A total of 91 MPs are registered in the sitting, during which the deputies are set to vote on the candidacy of the prime minister.
Armenia’s third president Serzh Sargsyan was officially nominated for prime minister at Monday’s joint session of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and its coalition partner Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D).
