Blogger Lapshin to deliver remarks at PACE session
Russian-Israeli blogger Alexander Lapshin plans to deliver remarks at a session of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg where he will tell his experience in Azerbaijan and the violations of his rights.
As the blogger told reporters in Yerevan on Friday, he plans to tell the story of his Azerbaijani imprisonment and instances of attacks and threats.
To note, Lapshin is visiting Armenia to attend է "InTour Expo" and "SportWay" tourism fairs.
"On the last day of my imprisonment, that was my mother's birthday I was attacked, severely beaten. I woke up two days later in the emergency room of a hospital in Baku with a fractured neck, choke marks and broken teeth. They were trying to show as if I had attempted a suicide."
In the blogger's words, He knew he was in a totalization totalitarian state where is he used for solving internal issues.
"They were trying to show to the uneducated population that Ilham Aliyev is a strong leader and can ignore the position of Russia, Israel and the European Union," the blogger said.
Lapshin reminded about the case currently in the European Court of Human Rights against Azerbaijan with the investigation procedure expected to last 1-2 years.
To remind, Alexandr Lapshin, who was serving a three-year jail sentence in Baku for his writings about Artsakh, was released from an Azerbaijani prison in September 2017 after being granted a pardon from that country's president Ilham Aliyev.
