Armenian president arrives in the Republic Square
Moments ago, Armenian President Armen Sarkissian arrived in the Republic Square in capital Yerevan to meet with MP Nikol Pashinyan, who's spearheaded the movement opposed to Serzh Sargsyan's election as prime minister.
Earlier, Sarkissian released a statement proposing a dialogue and a meeting with the protest leader to resolve the political situation in the country peacefully. In response to the President's call, MP Pashinyan invited the Sarkissian to the Republic Square where he holds his daily demonstration.
"If he wants to meet with me to resolve the crisis I am ready to welcome him in the presence of the people in the square and we will speak to each other," Pashinyan said.
